BT Global Services at the centre of a jump in BT profits

BT profits jump by 71%, with their Global Services business at the centre of the increase in revenue.

BT CEO Gavin Patterson told the BBC on the 12 May 2011 that, ‘a significant increase in profits came from our international Global Services business, and we have also seen very strong performance from our infrastructure business, BT Openreach, who have been installing the next generation of Broadband in the UK.’

BT Global Services saw it’s orders up 10% at £7.3billion.  This success has been partly apportioned to the cutting of operational costs, with investments in technology being at the heart of the streamlining.
