Royal Liverpool to use EQMS to manage Trust-wide Clinical Governance and Quality
The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust was formed in April 1995 by the merger of the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and Broadgreen Hospital NHS Trust. The Trust is one of the largest and busiest hospital trusts in the North of England with an annual budget of over £300 million, more than 5000 staff and almost one million patients being seen every year. In a recent audit by the Care Quality Commission, The Trust received top scores of excellent for the quality of its services and the quality of its financial management.
Tony Bell, Chief Executive said: “We have improved our annual scores for the past three years which shows our commitment to continually improving our services and striving to do better. This is great news for our patients and it recognises the hard work and dedication of our staff over the past 12 months.”
The Trust has been using EQMS in its laboratories for several years and, following a presentation by Qualsys to its Clinical Governance and Quality Department, the Trust decided to extend the system Trust-wide. An extension to the Trusts’s existing licence was purchased on 16th October that will make the system available to all Trust staff and grant up to 45 staff administrative rights. EQMS will now be used to control and distribute all Trust Policies and Procedures electronically. All Trust staff will have access to fully authorised, up-to-date documentation and, where necessary, the Trust will be able to monitor that staff have acknowledged and read critical content.
Tina Bragg, IT Lead in the Clinical Governance and Quality Department said, ”We see the introduction of EQMS as another important step in the Trust’s pursuit of continuous improvement in our services. We are excited about the potential for EQMS and look forward to taking the project forward in the coming weeks.”
